The magazine just released its Summer Movie Preview, which features a “Dark Knight Rises” cover, and the spread offers up some new photos from Christopher Nolan’s final Batman movie, as well as some new details. Arguably the biggest movie of the year, “The Dark Knight Rises” has kept its card relatively close to the vest, only letting out a handful of photos, two short trailers and the six-minute prologue in front of “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” in December. Christopher Nolan knows that he has secrets to protect, so when he spoke with EW, he measured his words carefully. “So what can I not tell you about my film,” he said. The director did, however, open up about the threat Batman’s new nemesis, Bane, poses for the Dark Knight. “He represents formidable physical strength, combined with absolute evil of intention,” Nolan said. While Bane may be a formidable physical strength, many fans found his voice an unintelligible audio mess. Tom Hardy, the actor playing him, addressed some of the controversy around Bane’s less than understandable voice. “It’s a risk, because we could be laughed at — or it could be very fresh and exciting.” Hardy also mentioned that the voice was an attempt to connect back to the original character’s Caribbean origins, and he feels that as the movie progresses, the audience will be able to understand Bane more clearly. The new issue also offers some great new stills from the film, including a new look at what evildoings Bane might be up to. In one photo, he appears to be holding a financial office hostage, so perhaps some economic warfare will be on the table. The other photos include a snapshot of Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman doing what she does best, burgling. There’s also a curious picture of Batman hold what appears to be an iPad. We’re sure it’s a much more weaponized Lucius Fox invention. What do you think of the new “Dark Knight Rises” photos? Leave your comment below!
