Frank Grillo Confirmed as Crossbones Villain in ‘Captain America 2’

Well, that was fast. Just last week, Warrior and “Prison Break” star Frank Grillo revealed that he spent some time at Marvel, while another source learned he was up for the role of Crossbones, a villain in the Captain America universe. Now Variety has confirmed that Grillo has been officially landed the villainous role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Normally a henchman of Red Skull, Crossbones (aka Brock Rumlow) led the Savage Crims gang in New York’s lower East Side before joining a school for criminals. Later he worked under Red Skull and was believed to be behind Cap’s assassination in the comics. However, as we pointed out when the news broke, since Hugo Weaving doesn’t sound too keen on reprising his villainous role from Captain America: The First Avenger, we don’t think he’ll show up for the sequel.
