Jim Carrey Backs Out of Farrelly Brothers’ ‘Dumb & Dumber’ Sequel

Last fall, Bobby and Peter Farrelly seemed pretty confident that their sequel to Dumb & Dumber would finally be getting off the ground about 18 years after the original comedy starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. Even better, the leading duo was being lined up to return for the sequel, and this year there were rumblings that the film would go in front of cameras this fall with a script from Sex Drive writers Sean Anders and John Morris. However, ET has learned that the project has hit a snag as Jim Carrey has actually backed out of the project, apparently because New Line and Warner Bros. aren’t very enthusiastic about it. Well, they at least weren’t as excited as Carrey was to get it made.
