Matthew Goode & Paul Bettany to Lead Naval Action Film ‘Destroyer’

When it comes to sea-faring adventure movies, some of the best ones are period pieces. Whether they’re pirate tales like the first Pirates of the Caribbean film or swashbuckling classics like Errol Flynn’s Captain Blood, there’s something exciting about filming on a ship out in the open ocean. Perhaps the best of these is Peter Weir’s Master and Commander: Far Side of the World, and now one of that film’s stars is taking to the high seas again. According to Moviehole, Paul Bettany will star alongside Watchmen’s Matthew Goode in Destroyer, an ’80s period piece based on a true story set on a naval destroyer on its way to war. The film follows British Navy Captain David Hart Dyke, whose ship is led into a tense situation during the Falklands Conflict in 1982 and is bombed by the Argentine Air Force.
