Steve Carell Will Have a ‘Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day’

Way back in the summer of 2010, it was revealed that director Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Real Steel) was developing a live-action adaptation of the favorite children’s book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Then almost a year later The Kids Are All Right writer and director Lisa Cholodenko boarded the film which has been described as a high-concept family comedy. Now Deadline has word that Steve Carell is the first name to join the talent roster on the big screen. However, rather than playing the title character (who is a young boy), he’s playing a character named Ben. I would imagine that since the film is supposed to involve Alexander’s entire family collectively enduring the worst day of their lives that Carell is playing the kids’s father, but that’s just speculation.
