TLC’s Extreme Cheapskates finished its six-episode run last night, and as the series devoted to the freakishly frugal wore on, it became clear that Extreme Mooches may have been a better title. Or Extreme Assholes, even. One guy last night went to an ice cream stand, filled up on samples and then left without buying anything. That isn’t being a cheapskate, it’s being a thief. The similarly self-entitled Jeff Yeager, a writer and self-described (quotes and all) “media personality” is another example of someone who makes his penny-pinching other people’s problem. He’s not just an extreme cheapskate, he’s an aggressively extreme cheapskate and quite possibly the most annoying person on TV last night.
