‘X-Men: First Class’ Sequel Shoots in January to Avoid ‘Catching Fire’

Earlier this week, there were worries that some tense negotiations with director Gary Ross could affect the release date for Catching Fire, the sequel to The Hunger Games. This is important, because in that same story (which has now been updated with Ross leaving the new successful franchise), it was also revealed that a delay could also be caused by Fox’s option to bring star Jennifer Lawrence in to reprise her role of Mystique in the developing sequel to X-Men: First Class, a deal which trumps Lionsgate’s option to bring her back for Catching Fire. Thankfully, it sounds like any conflict has been avoided in scheduling. Heat Vision reports Fox has scheduled the X-Men: First Class sequel to shoot in January, which would allow Lionsgate to shoot Catching Fire in August or September as they were already planning.
