Yes, Alfonso Cuaron is on the Shortlist of Directors for ‘Catching Fire’

Since it’s now official that Gary Ross will not be directing The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire after releasing an official statement about his departure earlier this week, Lionsgate is quickly trying to find a director to meet their November 22nd, 2013 release date. When news of Ross’ potential departure came about, I was quite the supporter of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Children of Men director Alfonso Cuaron taking on the project and now 24 Frames reveals that he is on the studio’s wishlist along with David Cronenberg (Eastern Promises) and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (Babel). More below! Apparently there are some other names in the mix, but those are the three filmmakers mentioned. Thankfully, none of them are more lighthearted choices and have all had experience with dreary drama and edgy stories, perfect for a series that despite its young adult audience is rather mature and grim. …
