‘Zombieland’ & ‘Gangster Squad’ Director Gears Up for ‘Spy Hunter’

Nearly ten years ago it was Dwayne Johnson who was ready for an adaptation of the hit video game Spy Hunter at Universal, and he stayed attached to the property for years as new writers kept trying to script the flick. Johnson is no longer part of the project, but Vulture has word that the adaptation has life again at Warner Bros. with Zombieland and Gangster Squad director Ruben Fleischer at the helm. This comes after filmmakers like John Woo and Paul W.S. Anderson wanted to get involved, but (thankfully) never got the project off the ground. But what about the script that has gone through countless different versions? Fleischer is on the lookout for new writers to script his take on the video game series which Warner Bros. seems to be pleased with.
