Nathan Fielder Just Dropped the Wildest Surprise of the Fall Movie Season

Nobody saw this one coming. Over the weekend, a mystery screening at the Telluride Film Festival turned out to be a secretly-filmed documentary from Nathan Fielder, and the internet has not recovered since.

The film is called You Can See Everything, co-directed by Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, and it centers on Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes in the weeks before she reported to federal prison in 2023. According to A24’s official synopsis, Holmes invited a skeptical film crew to document her every move thirty-four days before her sentence began, and what started as a character study spiraled into a three-year odyssey nobody predicted.

That’s Fielder’s whole thing, right? The guy who built his career on deadpan, socially awkward premises on shows like Nathan For You and The Rehearsal just quietly filmed one of the most notorious figures in recent business history, and kept it a secret for years. Even Fielder himself doesn’t seem totally sure what he walked into. Speaking to the Telluride crowd after the premiere, he admitted he’s still trying to make sense of what happened between him and Holmes, and he said he’s hoping audiences can help him work it out.

The teaser is somehow even stranger than the premise suggests. It opens on Fielder and Holmes locked in an intense, uncomfortable stare, with Holmes insisting she has nothing to hide before Fielder presses her on whether she’s “being real right now.” Her response: “I’m always being real.” It’s exactly the kind of squirmy, can’t-look-away energy Fielder fans have been craving.

You Can See Everything hits theaters this October from A24. Clear your calendar, because this is going to be the one everyone’s talking about.
