Edgar Ramirez to Lead Richard Kelly’s New ‘Corpus Christi’ Thriller
Though we’ve seen Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramirez in Hollywood films like The Bourne Ultimatum, Vantage Point and the forthcoming Wrath of the Titans sequel, his first English language film was Domino back in 2005. Now Variety reports Ramirez is reteaming with the film’s director, Richard Kelly of Donnie Darko fame, for his next film Corpus Christi, a thriller that follows Paciencia De La Rosa, an Iraqi war veteran with severe post-traumatic stress disorder who forges a dangerous alliance with a wealthy industrialist in Texas. It seems like a much more traditional story than we’re used to seeing Kelly craft. Between Southland Tales and The Box, I haven’t exactly been thrilled with Kelly’s latest endeavors, but the filmmaker has still tossed fragments of some really great concepts and ideas that have made the films stay away from being absolutely dreadful.
