Interview: ‘Looper’ Writer/Director Rian Johnson Talks Time Travel

He’s the director of some of my favorite indies like Brick and The Brothers Bloom and is finally venturing into science fiction with a film called Looper – his name is Rian Johnson. He’s a brilliant guy with a very unique eye and wonderful filmmking sensibilities, and I’ve been anxiously waiting for him to get into the sci-fi genre. Looper stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis as the same person, different ages, and is about mob hitmen who are sent targets from the future when time travel is invented – we just ran that first look. This weekend at WonderCon, after the trailer premiere, I met up with Rian for a quick interview.
