James Marsden Cast as Rival in ‘Anchorman: The Legend Continues’

Cyclops is going up against Ron Burgundy. Casting is still underway on the upcoming Anchorman sequel, subtitled The Legend Continues, reuniting Will Ferrell and director Adam McKay and the rest of the original cast. A few weeks ago, it was confirmed that Kristen Wiig would co-star, and just last week we heard that Terrence Stamp may be taking a Rupert Murdoch role, too. Now the latest word coming from Deadline is that actor James Marsden, last seen in Robot & Frank and the Straw Dogs remake, has nabbed a key role in the long-awaited sequel. Sounds like things are coming together, since this should be ready by December. Anchorman: The Legend Continues will star Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner and of course, Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy, the legendary Channel 4 Evening News anchor. Deadline says that James Marsden will play a “rival anchor and nemesis to Ferrell’s Ron Burgundy in the sequel.” Beyond that, plot details are being kept …
