Joaquin Phoenix is Reteaming with P.T. Anderson for ‘Inherent Vice’
After making a stunning, Oscar nominated, big screen return in The Master, actor Joaquin Phoenix will be working with director Paul Thomas Anderson again with something different for the both of them. Last fall we learned that Anderson would make the adaptation of of Thomas Pynchon’s book Inherent Vice, and when rumors swirled of Charlize Theron’s involvement, Robert Downey Jr. was still expected to have the lead role since he became attached to the project a couple years ago. Now Variety has word that Phoenix is taking the lead role as a stoner detective named Larry “Doc” Sportello trying to solve a case in LA in 1969.
