‘Journey 2’ Director Brad Peyton Hired to Helm ‘Lobo’ for DC Comics
Considering a director like Guy Ritchie was once lined up to direct a feature film adaptation of DC Comics’ Lobo, you wouldn’t think that the filmmaker behind Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore or Journey 2: The Mysterious Island would be the top choice to follow in his footsteps. However, Deadline reports that’s exactly what’s happening with director Brad Peyton currently being set to rewrite and direct the live-action comic book adaptation from producers Joel Silver (The Matrix) and Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend, Paranormal Activity). Lobo started as a villain in the 80’s but found his true calling in the 90’s. Upon his revival in the 90’s, Lobo became an anti-hero biker meant to serve as a parody of other violent heroes such as Wolverine and the Punisher (both Marvel properties), with his stories featuring a nihilistic streak tinged with dark comedy and excessive violence.
