Matt Damon Will Not Direct That Movie He Wrote with Dave Eggers

Just last October we learned that Matt Damon was looking to follow in his best friend Ben Affleck’s footsteps by sitting in the director’s chair for a new film that he co-wrote with “The Office” star John Krasinski, who himself hatched the idea with author Dave Eggers. All seemed well with the project when Damon talked about the prospect of directing towards the end of 2011, especially with Frances McDormand joining the cast, but it appears some issues have come up that will take the actor away from directing duties on the film. However, the issues aren’t worrisome enough to keep him from starring in the untitled film. What’s really strange about this situation is that Vulture says Damon is stepping away from directing because of issues with the script about a salesman who arrives in a small town only to have his whole life called into question.
