‘Muppets’ Director James Bobin Taking on Period Musical ‘Tribyville’

After bringing The Muppets back together in a charming musical reunion (and a sequel on the way starring Ricky Gervais as the human lead), director James Bobin will be taking on a period musical for Disney. The Wrap says the studio is working to acquire Tribyville from Gary Sanchez Productions (the production company founded by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay), but plot details for the musical are being kept under wraps at the moment. However, Bobin also wrote the script for the project as well. It sounds like Disney is anxious to keep Bobin around for awhile in addition to his work on the rebooted The Muppets franchise.
