Must Watch: ILM’s Reel for the Oscar Nominated VFX in ‘The Avengers’

Around the holidays last year, we highlighted a featurette from Industrual Light & Magic that ran through the visual effects breakdown of that one epic long take battle shot from the climax in The Avengers. Now that the visual effects studio has been nominated for an Oscar for their work on the film (the only comic book movie to receive a nod this year), they’ve released a cool sizzle reel that shows how some of the effects heavy shots came together. From Hulk (look for unrendered bare ass) to the Helicarrier and the stunning recreation of Manhattan with that signature shot of The Avengers assembling, it’s all here.
