New Line Looks to Plan Another ‘Journey’ Adventure Sequel for 2014

It may not seem like it, but the family adventure series that started with Journey to the Center of the Earth is quite successful. Not only did the first film gross over $240 million worldwide, but the sequel, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island will pass $275 million this week. New Line has definitely taken notice and the Warner Bros. studio arm is moving forward with a third installment in the franchise based on author Jules Verne seminal adventure novels and director Brad Peyton and writers Brian and Mark Gunn are returning for the sequel and have an eye for a 2014 release. However, no deals have been made with cast yet. Josh Hutcherson has been the only mainstay in the franchise between films, but after The Hunger Games hits, he’s going to be quite a hot commodity, so there’s no guarantee that he or Dwayne Johnson and Vanessa Hudgens will return …
