Timur Bekmambetov to Direct ‘Heatseekers’ for Producer Michael Bay

This could be a match made in action movie heaven. THR reports that Wanted and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter director Timur Bekmambetov has signed on to direct Heatseekers, a new action film being produced by Michael Bay and Andrew Fuller from Platinum Dunes and Fast and Furious producer/writer Chris Morgan. That’s a lot of big names. Paramount Pictures acquired a spec script written by George Mahaffey in 2010, but rising scribe F. Scott Frazer (who only has the John Cusack thriller called The Numbers Station to his name) has just been hired to rewrite it before production begins. The story details are being kept secret for now, but THR says the plot surrounds “an ex-military pilot who takes on a group of aerial pirates.” I don’t know about you, but that description immediately conjures images of Stealth in my head.
