Trey Parker & Matt Stone Setting Up Their Own Important Studios

As the masterminds behind of one of television’s best comedies, “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have been lampooning Hollywood big shots for years. They’ve delved into feature film territory with mixed results – we’d rather forget about BASEketball, but South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut and Team America: World Police are freaking hilarious – and they’ve discussed their interest in turning their first smash hit Broadway musical, The Book of Mormon, into a movie before. Now, the NY Times reports the duo’s formation of Important Studios to bring The Book of Mormon (and other such projects) to life. This is great news for any fans of Parker and Stone’s irreverent brand of humor, because now they truly don’t have to answer to anyone.
