Cinemark Hosting Restored ‘The Godfather’ XD Showings This Week

Paramount has partnered with Cinemark for a one-day-only screening of a restored print of Francis Ford Coppola’s 1972 classic The Godfather. The theater chain announced that they’re hosting screenings in 55 of their XD auditoriums (similar to IMAX, big screen, big sound) around the nation. They’re hosting these screenings on March 1st, Thursday this week, in honor of its 40th anniversary. The film was meticulously restored using 5.1 digital surround sound, re-mastered using state-of-the-art technology, then transferred to files making it available to be seen on Cinemark’s giant XD screens. “I’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse.” If you have a Cinemark XD theater near you, you probably already know it, and it will be one of those theaters running a showing of The Godfather 40th Anniversary Edition in XD.
