Garrett Hedlund Joins Coens’ Folk Music Movie ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’

Though the Tron Legacy star has been cast as the lead role in Warner Bros. live-action adaptation of the anime Akira, production has been pushed back again which allows Garrett Hedlund to take on another, perhaps more inspiring project. Variety has word that Hedlund has landed a role in the Coen Brothers’ folk music centric film Inside Llewyn Davis. While it’s not clear what character Hedlund will play, his singing chops that were on display in Country Strong likely make him a strong candidate to play one of the many singers amongst the 1960’s Greenwich Village folk music scene that will be at the heart of the film. Apparently Akira was originally keeping Hedlund from taking a role in Joel and Ethan Coen’s film, but now his schedule is clear.
