Jeremy Renner Looking to Play Julian Assange in WikiLeaks Movie

It’s been a little while since WikiLeaks was dominating news headlines as the work of Julian Assange and his infamous website was under scrutiny for exposing secret government information through leaked, classified documents, e-mails, cables and more. But that doesn’t mean Hollywood has forgotten about bringing the story to the big screen. Last year DreamWorks picked up both WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War on Secrecy and Inside WikiLeaks: My Time with Julian Assange at the World’s Most Dangerous Website for a feature film, and now the studio wants Jeremy Renner to take the lead role. And while the story still needs an ending with Assange currently hiding out in the United Kingdom, seeking political asylum from the Ecuadorian embassy, as both the United States and Sweden want him for different crimes, DreamWorks already has their eye on Bill Condon (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II, Dreamgirls) to direct the film. …
