Really? ‘Guinness Book of World Records’ Being Made into A Movie?

Looks like that long-delayed Ripley’s Believe It Or Not movie is about to get some similar company. That project had Tim Burton and Chris Columbus attached to direct over the years, and now Deadline reports that Warner Bros. wants to use the Guinness Book of World Records as the basis for an upcoming global action adventure movie. “The Office” writer Danny Chun has been brought on to write the script. There’s no angle announced for a narrative yet (duh, because it’s a book of freaking records), but the studio hopes to turn the book’s worldwide recognition into big box office numbers. Uh, yeah, good luck with that. Most of my fondest memories of the Guinness Book of World Records don’t come from the book at all, but from an episode of the animated Nickelodeon series “Hey Arnold!” in which the neighborhood kids get together to try to break a world record. …
