Rooney Mara Heading to ‘Brooklyn’ from Producers of ‘An Education’

Since her small but star-making turn as Erica in Fincher’s The Social Network, Rooney Mara has been making some great career choices. She worked with Fincher again in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, earning an Oscar nomination for Best Actress, and has since worked with heavy hitters like Terrence Malick and Steven Soderbergh. Now in addition to replacing Carey Mulligan in Spike Jonze’s new film, THR reports she’ll take the lead in an adaptation of Colm Toibin’s novel, Brooklyn. Nick Hornby (High Fidelity) is writing the script, and reteaming with the producers of An Education (which he also wrote) for this film. Brooklyn will be the English language debut of director Pascal Chaumeil, who worked with Luc Besson on both Leon: The Professional and The Fifth Element.
