‘Smallville’ Creators Slated to Rebuild ‘The Machine’ for Vin Diesel

After the kid-friendly movie The Pacifier, it seemed like Vin Diesel would never been seen again in the action movie world. The success of Fast & Furious and the even bigger success of Fast Five ensured he still has a career in the genre, but Diesel is returning to the family-friendly territory in a film that sounds like a live action version of The Iron Giant (in which he provided the voice for the title character). Deadline reports “Smallville” creators Alfred Gough and Miles Miller are in negotiations to write The Machine, a story about a machine (Diesel) built to be a weapon who is decommissioned and befriended by a young boy 20 years later.
