TV Director Scott Zabielski Set to Direct Remake of ‘Police Academy’

We haven’t heard anything about the gestating remake of the long-running comedy franchise Police Academy since March of 2010, but now it appears some progress is finally being made on the project as Deadline reports New Line Cinema has set Scott Zabielski to make his feature directorial debut with the remake. Zabielski has made a name for himself directing dozens of episodes of the web-skewering comedy series “Tosh.0” with comedian Daniel Tosh on Comedy Central. But the really interesting fact here is that Zabielski actually went through police academy himself and is still a reserve officer in West Hollywood. Zabielski’s real-life experiences should help bring a different kind of comedy to the series and might even make it that much more true to life. Maybe he’ll even bring Tosh in for a role in the ensemble comedy about the silly exploits of rookie cops hitting the streets after a city decides …
