Universal Unveils 100th Anniversary Logo + Plans to Restore Classics

Hot on the heels of Paramount Pictures’ iPad app celebrating their 100th anniversary as a motion picture studio, Universal Pictures is celebrating their century in cinema as well (which doesn’t officially hit until April 30th) with a brand new logo you’ll see in front of Universal films starting with the premiere of The Lorax in February before it hits theaters everywhere in March. Studio president Ron Meyer says, “It didn’t change the logo in a way that audiences wouldn’t completely understand, but it brought us up to date.” Also, THR says the studio is additionally planning to restore 13 classic films from their extensive history.
